In Loving Memory...

Well yesterday morning someone ran over our cat Key, it was so hard to see him lying there that all I could do is cry. I remember when we first got him, we were in Klamath Falls and this lady Brian worked with asked us if we would like a cat because she was moving and didn't want to have to take him with her, we obviously said yes not knowing how much that cat would change us. When we went to pick him up that same day I was ecstatic. Key was a stray that the lady fed and fell in love with. Key became an indoor outdoor kitty. When we moved up to Madras, Key hated the 3 hour drive in his cat carrier, but he forgave us. He loved being on the farm, he would catch birds and mice and bring them up to the house for us to see. He was such an awesome cat. He was so quirky, it only made him just that more awesome. Every time we would come home he would somehow know and he'd run up to the gate and "attack" the gate by scratching it and then run over to the tree and "attack" the tree and then he would look back at us and run to the door for "inside time". He loved "inside time". Sometimes when he wanted to come inside and he wanted our attention, Key would sit in front of our kitchen window and just sit there and wait for someone to see him.  And somehow he always knew whenever you were cooking with cheese, because he could be totally passed out on the couch and once you opened the fridge and took out the cheese he sprinted across the house to the kitchen and look up at you and meow at you for some cheese. And every time I got out of the shower Key would somehow know it was me and not Brian coming out of the shower and run into the bathroom and look up at me and start meowing like crazy wanting me to pet him. Sometimes he ran into the bathroom when Brian got out of the shower, he'd just look up at him and walk away. I have no idea why he did that, but that was Key, he was just cute that way. When Brian finished burying him yesterday when he came home from work, and we turned around to go inside, it was the worst feeling I've ever  had, I was empty, numb. I felt like I was abandoning my poor little Key, he was more than a cat, or a pet to us, he was apart of our family. And to have to bury him and then leave him there, all I could do was cry even more. Later that night we both went out to get food, we didn't feel like cooking plus it was already 11 something pm, and I thought as we were going out our back door, "I wonder if Key is gonna want to come in tonight?", before I realized that he was never going to come home. We were so lucky to have had him. He was truly the best cat ever. We will miss him so much. We love you Key.

Bathroom Show & Tell

We live in a two bedroom, one bath mobile home that is on my husbands' grandparents' property; and it's the perfect size for the two of us just one thing...it was made in like the 70's so there is bright green carpet and wood paneling on the walls and on three walls of the house there was this horrid bright green paisly-ish patterned wallpaper. Slowly but surley we have been trying to upgrade our house. The first room we had to do was the bathroom because when we first moved in it hadn't been lived in for years so we didn't have water and we didn't have a septic system..but now we do!  And the shower leaked to the outside which is never a good thing so my hubby tore it all down and properly insulated and sealed everything. A couple of months ago I painted the bathroom this awesome grey color that I found in the miss-tint isle for a few dollars and now we have no more ugly green wallpaper and I painted over the paneling so it looks way way better. Sorry I didn't take before pictures, it was just too horrible.

The now mirror used to be a butt ugly picture but with a cool frame so my husband had it be turned into a mirror for me. And the cabinet doors used to be this lightish brown color and the rest of the cabinet was this yellowish color...it was really horrible. So I painted the back a nice brown and stained the wood cabinets a nice dark brown, the reason I had to paint the other is because it isn't real wood facing it has this vaneer, I learned that when the stain would just not do anything to it. But I think overall it looks pretty good.

Cherry Turnovers and Mini Pies

My husband likes me to make mini pies so that he can take them to work as part of his lunch so I made mini cherry pies and cherry turnovers. We have a cherry tree on our property so I can say i'm very blessed! I think that my crust came out oustanding on these, so yummy, buttery, and flakey crust, just delicious! Oh during the weekend I transplanted this shamrock my husband got when he was a freshman in college, into a bigger pot, and so I was left with a really cute pot, empty and lonely so we bought an awesome plant to go in it! Enjoy!

The mini pies are still in the muffin tin...waiting for them to cool down

Isn't my new plant cute in its new home!

Purse Size Hand Sanitizer

Ok well yesterday I showed you my awesome vitamin C holder for my purse, well today i'm gonna show you my awesome mini hand sanitizer for my purse. I decided to make it pretty because lets face it, it was ugly before, so I peeled the sticker off the back and the front and printed a new lable for it (that matched my vitamin C label) and added a bow (same ribbon as the vitamin C holder) and voila! much cuter!

Purse Size Vitamin C

Okay I have an issue with people who are sick that are around me when I go places...I know I'm a bit of a germaphobe, so I cary vitamin C with me in my purse. I didn't want it in some ugly pill bottle so I found this clear box that I found in my craft storage area, which was the perfect size, which I then printed a label on my label maker and stuck it on there and then hot glued on my bow and voila! A cute way to have my vitamin C with me everywhere I go.

Bookshelf/Jewelry Holder Make-Over

I wanted to paint this small bookshelf and and nick nack shelf I had gotten from my mother-in-law to match the bedroom, which is all white (our house is from like the 60's or something so we have bright green carpet and icky faux wood panelling). But I didn't want it all to feel stark and hospital-y so i kinda distressed the wood a bit idk I kinda like it.
The nick-nack shelf was really cute but I didn't know what to use it for really until I came up with the perfect use for it...a jewelry holder. It was perfect, the wire meshy stuff on the door could hold the dangly earing I used often and behind the door I could put all of my bracelets and my rings(on an awesome sterling silver swan ring holder) and in the little drawers I could put all of my other earings and on the shelves i could put some of my cute pins. And on top of it you can kinda see my mirror creation on top (so I can put my earings in safely!), I had this two small mirrors and didn't know where to put them really so I put two hinges on the back so that they could stay open in a V shape and voila! a perfect mirror thing to go above my jewelry holder.

Fourth of July Weekend!

Ok well our weekend started out on Saturday when Brian and I went to Bend to go shopping and then we met up with our friend Megan in Bend and saw one of the funniest movies ever, Grown Ups. So I found this dress at Target that was originally marked at $79.99....I know crazy, well it was on clearance for $39.98 and when the checker rang it up it rang up to $19.98!! I was sooo excited. Apearantly I was having a lucky day hitting sale racks because at Fred Meyer I found this other dress that was originally marked at $48.00 then marked down to $34.97 and can you guess what it rang up as...yup you guessed it $17.49!! I've been looking for nice dresses because lately we've been going to plays and operas and such. Here are some pictures of the dresses. Then on Sunday We went and visited his mom and my mom and then we went to our friend Megan's house for dinner and to do some fireworks. What was cool was that from her house you could see the Prinville's fireworks.

This is the one I got at Target and it has like this removable skirt thing so it can be worn like this
or this...

This one I got at Fred Meyer

Dutch Apple Pie

Well for the Fourth of July I made a dutch apple pie to take over to a friends house and once again I forgot to take a picture of the pie before I cut into it but you get the idea. By the way ...it was yummy!

Step Stool Make-Over

Here's the thing, I'm short (5'2 on a good day) so I have step stools all over the place, well I have this one that is all metal and quite ugly (it was in the house when we moved in) so today I finally got up off my ass and decided that it was time for it to get a make-over. So I sanded it down and primed it with some spray paint primer and then I decided to try out this new can of spray paint I reacently got at Walmart, Brushed Metallic from Krylon in nickel. I think it looks way better than before, what do you think?!
After I sanded it down ...

Finished!
